Default Glyph of Essence

The 6 elementalists in our guild got into a silly discussion about what skills they needed to unlock to finish the collection and one stumbled upon this little number:

[skill]Glyph of Essence[/skill]

It's sad, but we discussed this skill for about 30 minutes, and we are all lost. How and why would anyone use this?

A non-elementalist can use a negative energy set to hide energy and then cast something that takes a long time, such as resurrection spells.

I guess if you're really bored, you could use it with Rebirth, since you're gonna drop energy anyways. But yeah, can't think of anything else it's good for.

It can combo with Decapitate somewhat (or other adrenal based build) with an ele secondary or something. Use Phoenix to make your spike bigger. Execute with a negative energy weapon and swap afterwards.

I'm not sure if there are skills more powerful to use with this glyph now or not.

E/As used to be seen sometimes with this glyph, and a standard GPS->Horns->Falling-Twisting combo. Hit Phoenix as Twisting lands for an instant kill.

It used to be that the cast was *really* instant, you could literally use it on Fireball and not stop kiting. I think that was changed in an update, though.
Generally you don't use it with a rez, as the only one it fits with is Rebirth. If you're casting Rebirth, it's because your party just wiped and ate crap. It doesn't really matter what the cast time is in that situation. It's much more common to see Res Chant+Glyph of Sacrifice than Glyph of Essence+something else.

I've run it in place of Glyph of Sac on a fire prodigy-powered E/Mo. You tend to be riding your energy low with prodigy and you can regenerate it at a staggering ammount so it doesn't matter too much.
